Our Values

Since its inception, Widex has been committed to three core values that continue to inform our decisions and inspire our work:

Originality

Widex has never followed the beaten path. We have our own audiological identity, and always aim for the best audiological solutions for people with hearing loss. Our originality also comes to expression through our flat organisational structure, which facilitates interdisciplinary work and the production of innovative solutions.

Perseverance

Through professionalism and broad interdisciplinary expertise, Widex has created a solid foundation for co-operation with teacher training colleges, research institutes and independent experts from all over the world. When we get hold of a good idea, we nurture it and work hard to realise it.

Reliability

For Widex, reliability means thorough quality control of each individual hearing aid, as well as a good partnership with our world-wide network of subsidiaries and distributors. Reliability also means ensuring that our hearing aid users are provided with comprehensive and reliable information.

Widex USA In the Beginning

After the shocking events of Pearl Harbor, young Harold Spar and Henry Meltsner enlisted to serve their country in World War II.  While in the navy, they learned what was, at that time, some top secret technical skills that would serve them well later in life.

Upon leaving the Navy, Mr. Spar and Mr. Meltsner took the combined $400 that they received upon completion of their military service and using some of the technical training that they received began a company called Hal-Hen that quickly became and still is the world’s leading supplier of hearing aid accessories.

The rapid and worldwide success of Hal-Hen eventually led to Mr. Spar and Mr. Meltsner becoming involved with the Topholm and Westermann families from Denmark in 1956.  The result of their collective efforts led to the creation of Widex USA.

Widex Today

At Widex, we combine years of understanding with a natural curiosity in finding solutions to individual hearing loss. Our uncompromising approach to innovation has led to such advances as the world’s first fully digital in-the-ear hearing aid, as well as our own revolutionary wireless technology.

But hearing aids are more than the technology inside them. Not only should they help people hear better, they should be comfortable and easy to wear. We concentrate just as much on design of hearing aids as on technology to create a near-natural hearing experience.

We also believe in clever solutions and that things can always be done better. Our entirely CO2-neutral headquarters in Denmark is testament to this commitment.

We listen to and work closely with professionals and users alike as we build on more than five decades of leading research and development in overcoming hearing loss.

In our continuous search for unique and clear solutions to complex problems, we strive to give people with hearing loss the same opportunity to communicate as those with normal hearing.
